Southgate. Tanya has worked at Vaiala Beach School for the past 11 years. She returns to New Zealand with her daughter Amelia. Tanya has been the School Administrator and is often the first person of contact for our new families. On behalf of all the staff, parents and students we wish the very best for Tanya and Amelia and thank them both for being such significant people and making Vaiala Beach School a better place.

Maria Doyle (front row right) with the teachers at VBS. |
The staff at VBS were lucky enough to have professional
development with the talented Maria Doyle from Australia.
Maria Doyle was in Samoa for just a few weeks but in that time she gave
her time to help our teachers become better teachers. You can read more about this on Maria’s
website.
Thank you Maria for the fun
session where the teachers became students!
Table Tennis - Girls Take Gold - 22 August 2015
Five students represented Vaiala Beach School in a
tournament hosted by the Table Tennis Federation of Sāmoa. This tournament was the first that the students of
Vaiala Beach School have entered.
The five students who represented our school
were Analei Pelesasa, Andrea Schuster, Charlize Fesili, Noah Meredith, and Manu
Lima. If there’s one thing we know for a fact, is that
these kids had a great time.
This inter-school competition took place at S.A.S.N.O.C
in Tuanaimato. Though hidden from the public, competitive spirits grew. The six schools that had competed in this
tournament were George Brown Primary School, Marist Primary School, Pesega
Middle School, Sāmoa Primary School, St. Joseph Primary School and Vaiala Beach
School.
As the tension heated, the students played harder
than ever before. Analei Pelesasa said “it was a great challenge” she couldn’t
be more excited for the next tournament.
Even though the male contenders from our school played hard, the girl’s had stolen the spotlight getting the gold. Sāmoa
Primary, not far behind, had stolen the silver, and boasting with bronze was
Pesega. Along with the boys ceremony, third came Marist Primary, St. Joseph
snuck into second, and first was Sāmoa Primary.
Thanking Richard McFee from the International
Table Tennis Federation and Tuna Matalavea for this blissful experience for all
these children to be able to show off their Table Tennis skills.
These students had a great time interacting and
did very well.
