The
Years 7 and 8 students have recently completed their Newspaper Project. This topic of work included an educational
trip to the Sāmoa Observer headquarters in Vaitele. The students were thrilled to have photos of
this trip and an article about their ‘tough questions’ make it to the
newspaper.
Marj
Moore the NIE Coordinator (Newspapers in Education) gave the students a tour
and explained the many aspects to producing a daily paper. The editor Mata’afa Keni Lesa was impressed
with the students and how well prepared they were for the trip.
After
the trip the students then had to make their own front page of a
newspaper. Marj was invited to the class
where each student presented their paper to Marj and explained any challenges
or problems they had faced in having their paper ready by the due date.
It was
a great learning opportunity. Congratulations to Charlize, Noah, Manu and Ella
who had their front pages printed in the Sāmoa Observer.
