Visit from Middlesex School, Massachusetts, U.S.A - 27 July 2015

The Years 7 and 8 students were lucky to have Pua Higginson and Diego Maquieira come and inspire them about the possibility of being awarded a scholarship to the prestigious Middlesex School in Massachusetts, U.S.A.

Pua who is an ex-Vaiala Beach School student explained what the school is like and the many opportunities that are available there.

Pua enjoyed her time at Middlesex School and would love to see someone from Samoa have the same opportunity she had.

Diego who also attended Middlesex talked about the sporting opportunities.  He played American Football while at the school but mentioned the many other sports that are available.

The scholarship is a full scholarship for four years and includes all costs.   Middlesex is a boarding school with the students living on campus.  The school which is over $50,000 US a year to attend has an outstanding reputation and would lead to many other educational opportunities.

To be considered for the scholarship students need to be sporty and academic.  Possible candidates would sit the SSAT which is a test before entering high school.

Pua and Diego’s visit planted the seed and has made some of our students think “Do I have what it takes?”

Wouldn’t it be great if we have another ex-Vaiala Beach Student become a student at Middlesex School?

Thank you Pua and Diego, we appreciate you telling the students about this opportunity.
